They say timing is everything…

Yesterday I was sitting in Starbucks minding my own business while enjoying a Caramel Brule Latte (I’m a sucker for anything caramel!) while I worked on this blog post, which was going to sound a lot different than it does now…

Then this happened.

Two young women chatting about their day, the cute boys they met at some party on the weekend, and then the complaints about the company they work for started.

Often there’s this toxic conversation that I hear in everyday conversation that people will cheat, lie and steal just to get what they want and to make a quick buck. Or that small business owners, like event planners, don’t have enough money or resources to know how your events can make an impact.

But I don’t buy it.

That’s right, I really don’t believe that most corporations are evil and that business owners are greedy or that event planners who are just starting their career or business don’t have the creativity (aka resources) to ‘pay it forward’.

You see, I’m surrounded by successful people and they’re the kindest, most giving and generous individuals I know and they’re always looking for ways to help others – whether it’s with their time or money or both. (note: I don’t define all success by the dollars in your bank account!)

This isn’t to say you have to ‘be rich’ to be generous, in fact, a simple smile can make an impact on an event attendee and you may not realize just how much it’s made their day.

Often it’s that simple!
